One of the key activities of Rotary is giving help to the community. Sometimes this is done through grants, but often in the giving of time, effort and care. Here are some examples of the work Riccarton Rotary

Club has done to help others

Most of the funds used and distributed by Riccarton Rotary Club come to us through the operation of Riccarton Sunday Market. Riccarton Market is a Christchurch institution which is open every Sunday except Easter and Christmas. Locals and visitors alike come and buy goods and fresh food there.
Recently we have helped schools buy sports uniforms, and athletes to attend competitions which otherwise they could not afford to travel to. We have helped to improve the gardens at Hohepa home by providing materials and labour, along with other local Rotary clubs.
Each year we run a speech competition for children in Year 5 and Year 6, sponsor attendance at the national Science Fair and provide places free of charge at the Rotary Youth Leadership Award residential programme where the up and coming leaders can learn and grow. Also we provide donations to local charities at Christmas, such as the City Mission and Salvation Army.
These are just a few of the examples of groups we have helped. To apply for a grant from the club you need to complete an application form. You can download the form by going back to the Home page and scrolling to the bottom. There you will find links to a Word document and a pdf version as well. Full instructions to complete the form are given in the file.
